SRINAGAR: All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani has said that, instead of accepting Kashmir as ‘disputed
territory’, New Delhi was hell-bent to ‘suppress us with its military might.’
Commenting on the Prime Minister Narendra
Modi’s address in which he asked youth to either choose tourism or terrorism, Geelani, in a statement, asked him not to compare Kashmir with Gujarat.
Taking serious notice of
Modi’s remarks, Geelani said, “We have only two options; either to surrender or resist till victory. We are facing the worst kind of terrorism and Delhi administration, instead of acknowledging the disputed status of Kashmir is gagging our voice.”
He said, “Kashmir dispute is the oldest unresolved international conflict in the world today and they prefer to remain silent about this core issue. They are turning a blind eye towards this issue and don’t even like to talk about the miserie
s and agonies the people are facing due to this unresolved issue.”
Commenting on the
Modi’s remarks about stone pelting, Geelani said, “It is ridiculous to ignore the root cause of chaos in the state and their indifference and discourteous approach towards Kashmir issue is highly absurd and shocking.”
Referring to the terrorism remarks of Narindra Modi, Geelani said, “He gave hype to stone pelting but didn’t even mention the basic reasons responsible for giving rise to such situations. We will never give up our struggle till we achieve freedom. Distorting facts won’t help change the basic concept of Kashmir issue.”
“Tunnel
s and roads can’t be substitute for freedom, nor development works, road
s and tunnels can lure our youth as they are striving for a great cause,” he said, “Kashmir is quite different from Gujarat and UP and the people of Kashmir should not be taken for ride.”
“10 lakh forces personnel are inflicting brutalities, however it didn’t work as people and particularly youth are determined to carry the ongoing struggle to its logical end,” Geelani said.
“I criticized Indian politicians for their rhetoric and parroting about Insaniyat, Kashmiriyat and Jamhoriat as it is nothing but jugglery of words aimed at misleading international community. They have not even a scrap of respect for humanity. Even massacre
s and blinding our
budding youth didn’t move them. They don’t respect the fundamental right
s and are denying an opportunity to ascertain the people verdict about political destiny of state.”
He said, “Even Kashmiriyat’ is being misinterpreted by these politicians. In 1947 people pronounced their verdict about human kindnes
s and politeness, however, these fanatic and bigoted people failed to learn any lesson from this. They failed to understand the real essence of Insaniyat and as such throttle and believe to slaughter each soul of Muslim community.”
“It is surprising that Narendra Modi while delivering sermons about stone pelting didn’t make any mention about showering of bullet
s and pellets, maiming thousands, continuous killing
s and blinding hundreds in state,” he said.
Referring to the statement of Narendra Modi that Kashmiris should choose between terrorism and tourism, Geelani said, “It lacks reasoning and it is highly painful. People’s reaction is resentment against the state terrorism. Resentment and resistance is our right and every suppressed and oppressed nation has a right to resist with possible an
d available means.
